Mastering Masonry

We have made lots of progress since my last post. The masonry at all tanks is now complete. The most challenging was Nampija's house because we had to wheelbarrow sand there. The sand and gravel we ordered were only distributed to three households, so we now need to hire a truck to move them to the other two sites. Good job Scott for pushing all that sand! The members of the households with tanks and other community members have been eager to assist us. They help bring water, mix mortar and with laying the bricks. We also finished the concrete at Eddie's house much faster than Muwanika's house. The guys at Eddie's house were really helpful, but we also learned a lot from our first experience with concrete at Muwanika's house.

In other news, it has been raining here! We are sometimes delayed because of the rain but it usually does not rain for more than an hour. The rain reduces the dust in the air but also causes the ground to become really muddy. Everyone's shoes are covered with clay and mud. The rain also makes it difficult for our laundry to dry, but we're surviving.

Our next task is to finish concrete, then we will focus on gutters and pumps.
